Search History

For signed in users, Web of Science automatically stores your search and browse history for up to a year. The following search and browse activity will generate a record in search history:

  • Document search

  • Advanced search using Query Builder

  • Cited reference search

  • Structure search

  • Records viewed

  • Citing Articles lists viewed

  • Cited References lists viewed

  • Related Records lists viewed

  • Shared References Lists viewed.

Note that the searches from the current session are listed in the "Session Queries" table at the bottom of the Advanced Search page.

You can access your past search histories from the left hand navigation panel

Actions

Each item in the History table has Actions you can perform on them by using the icon in its row.

  • Link icon: Clicking this icon will copy the URL as a direct link to the content to your operating system’s clipboard. You can paste this link into a document or an email to share with a colleague.

  • Bell icon: Save that search and create an email alert (we will send you an email when new records are added to the database that match your query.

  • Pencil icon: For Document (Basic) and Advanced searches, this will open an “edit query” box so you can modify the query.
