Merging duplicate accounts/Profiles

If you have created multiple accounts (and therefore may have multiple Web of Science Researcher Profiles), you can merge these.

  • Login in to your preferred account.
  • Click your name in the top right menu, then click Settings.
  • Click Account Settings.
  • Open Delete/merge account tab.

Once there, choose “I need to merge duplicate accounts” and enter the ResearcherID of your duplicate profile.  Submit the request. If the entered ResearcherID matches to an existing claimed profile, we’ll email a one-time password (OTP) to that profile’s email address. You’ll need to enter that OTP into the form to confirm the ownership of that profile and proceed with the merge.

When your ownership is confirmed, you’ll be given an option to select which of the email addresses to retain as your primary. The profile and ResearcherID associated with your chosen primary email address will be retained after the merge. To access your account settings, you need to login with your primary email address.

In case of multiple duplicate profiles, choose the primary one (with the email address you want to keep associated with your profile), then follow the above instructions to merge each of the duplicates into the primary, one by one. Please note it is important to merge all duplicate profiles directly into the primary one, not combining them into one and merging that combined profile into your primary one.

If you having difficulties merging your profiles, you may create a support ticket with the details of the accounts you wish to merge. For this, enter the details of the duplicate account into the ResearcherID field and click "Submit ResearcherID". You will then be presented with the following notification:

Clicking on "Submit the provided ResearcherID" will open up a customer support case with your details and we will be in touch with you via email to assist you with merging your profiles.
