AB=Abstract

Searches the complete abstract of the dissertation or thesis.

Note: Non-Roman characters are not searched in the Abstract field.

Example:

AB=(childhood AND education)

AU=Author

Searches for the name of the author of the dissertation or thesis.

Search using last name, first name.

Search using truncation on names for complete recall.

Note: Non-Roman characters are not searched in the Author field.

Example:

AU=Rivalle, G*

AV=Advisor

Searches for the name of the identified advisor for the dissertation or thesis.

Search using last name, first name.

Note: Non-Roman characters are not searched in the Advisor field.

Example:

AV=Smith, David

AD=Address

Searches the complete address for the dissertation or thesis.

In many cases, this will be the same as the institution that granted the degree but may include department information and country/region information.

Example: 

AD=Northwestern University

AD="Department of Chemistry"

CLF=Dissertation and Thesis Subjects

Searches for any assigned dissertation or thesis subject categories.

Most dissertations and theses are assigned at least one subject category when indexed.

Example:

CLF=Information Technology

COMM=Committee Member

Searches for the name of any committee member indexed for the dissertation or thesis.

Search using last name, first name.

Search using truncation on names for complete recall.

Note: Non-Roman characters are not searched in the Committee Member field.

Example:

COMM=(Riedewald, Mirek OR Bedrick, Steven)

CU=Country/Region

Searches the country or region information from the Address field

Example:

CU=Spain

DG=Degree Type

Searches the degree type for each dissertation or thesis.

Each document is identified as either a Doctoral or Masters degree type.

Example:

DG=Doctoral

DO=DOI

Searches the DOI field for each dissertation or thesis.

Note: Not all documents are assigned a DOI.

Example:

DO=10.48773/9w319

DPT=Department

Searches the department field for each dissertation or thesis.

Example:

DPT=("computer science" or "electrical engineering")

IS=ISBN

Searches the ISBN field for each dissertation or thesis.

Note: Not all documents are assigned an ISBN.

Example:

IS=979-8-204-10299-6

LA=Language

Searches the language field for each dissertation or thesis.

This field denotes the original language of the dissertation or thesis.

Example:

LA=Portuguese

OO=Institution

Searches the indexed institution for the dissertation or thesis.

This field will typically be the institution that granted the degree associated with the dissertation or thesis.

Example:

OO=Northwestern University

PY=Year Published

Searches the publication year for the dissertation or thesis.

The publication year is typically the same as the degree year for the published dissertation or thesis.

Separating years with a hyphen will searh a year range.

Example:

PY=1985

PY=1990-2000

TI=Title

Searches for terms in the title field for each dissertation or thesis.

Note: Non-Roman character sets are not currently supported for searching the Title field.

Example:

TI=(Hemingway and film)

TS=Topic

Searches for terms in the following fields of each dissertation or thesis: Title, Abstract, Keywords.

Note: Non-Roman characters are not searched in Topic fields.

Example:

TS=("teaching learning process" and games)

UT=Accession Number

Searches the accession number field within a record.

The accession number is a unique identifying number associated with each record in the product and consists of a product code and a unique number.

Example:

UT=PQDT:68554094
